Lt. James Cathey Scholarship of Honor Recipients

James graduated from Reno High School in 1998. He joined the Marine Reserves at 17, and attended the University of Colorado to study history and anthropology. His wife Katherine was 4 months pregnant when James was killed in Iraq in August, 2005. Their son, Jimmy, was born on December 22. James also leaves a loving daughter, Casey, 9 years old. He was looking forward to getting back home to be with his wife and new baby.

2008

Erin Etnyre is the 2008 recipient of the James J. Cathey Scholarship of Honor. Erin will enroll in a pre-med program and participate in junior ROTC.

 

2007

Anthony Julian F. Angeles is the first recipient of the James J. Cathey Scholarship of Honor.

 

The James J. Cathey Scholarship of Honor is awarded annually in May to a Reno High School student. Application forms are available here and can be submitted to the Reno High School guidance office.
